My grandmother was born in 1900. She was an avid Mahjong player in her 20's and 30's. She had several sets of the game of different values. This is one of them. I believe it to be close to 100 years old. She tried to teach me to play in the late fifties and gave me this set in the mid 60's. It's been in closets ever since. I didn't have the same interest. I've moved it to the various places I've lived not really knowing what to do with it. Now I'm in my seventies and I've got to find it a home. It is in fair condition and I believe it has all the pieces it's supposed to have. I was told all the ivory is real. The backs of the tiles are bamboo. It looks like 3 of the tile trays are original to the set. One is not. I have not made any attempt to clean or fix anything. I was told some time ago that when selling something old don't try to clean it up unless you know what you're doing. I don't, so it is what it is. I've tried to find out what it may be worth and I've gotten opinions ranging from $50 to $3000 depending on who I've talked to. Which means I have no idea of the value. The asking price is just to get attention to this listing. I'm hoping to get some reasonable offers and go from there. Thanks for looking.
